We invest millions of dollars building programs to get women into the pipeline, but built nothing to keep them there once they finally reach the top.

Background

She turned data into decisions that moved billions of dollars, at scale, inside some of the most demanding institutions in the world.

Akilah E. Kamaria built a career doing what most people only aspire to. She turned data into decisions that moved billions of dollars, at scale, inside some of the most demanding institutions in the world. That work required more than precision. It required the ability to see past what numbers confirm and press into what they obscure. That is where the real answers have always lived.

Alongside that career, she contributed to landmark research on race and gender discrimination at the American Bar Foundation, published in The American Economic Review, and was acknowledged for foundational work on cybersecurity information sharing at the ISAO Standards Organization.

When she saw a problem, she built something to solve it. In 2005, she founded Hemancipation, a Beverly Hills-based concierge service for men in transition, featured in Newsweek, with events that raised funds for Semper Fi and America's Fund.

She has since built something larger.
